Ben Folds & SSO

I know that it's impossible for me to review a Ben Folds concert in any kind of "proper" way. When I was a young'n (coz I'm so old now... :) I would get home from BF(5) shows and, in the concert high, write every detail I could possibly remember about the show and the lead-up to it. Maybe now I've realised that it's too difficult to try to word the fun and joy that is Ben Folds Live.

Ben Folds with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (September 7th) was one of those concerts you wish you could live inside. Philosophy was a nice surprise, but the highlight for me was possibly Narcolepsy. The massive fat sound towards the end of that song swallowed up my head.

There was fun improv stuff (including The Secret Life of Morgan Davis, One Down, and Rock this Bitch for Steve Irwin) as well as a good deal of 'tween-song banter.

(Some nice people put up some phone vids from the night at YouTube.)

The days following the show have been filled with much digging up of BF(5) books and much bashing of piano keys. Hooray for music :D
